In mid-August, eight of our Baseline members participated in the John Bandimere Jr. Invitational Challenge Race. This race was the second half of the fundraiser to sponsor Bandimere’s Race to Read program, following the golf tournament in July. Our staff was invited to race down the track called “Thunder Mountain,” which is a quarter-mile long, in 1 of 8 Dodge Challengers provided. The Challengers have automatic transmissions that will reach speeds of almost 100 mph in 1,320 feet of the dragstrip. Additionally, the race was followed by dinner in the Top Eliminator Club.
From Baseline, the racers that participated in the event included: Vince Harris, Jason Hawley, Duncan Hotchkiss, Chris Manning, Ethan Watel, Jay Davis, Alan Lunsford, and Cody Pfister. The event started with about 80 participants and quickly narrowed down to the finalists that would compete head-to-head. Among these participants, two of our employees were awarded. Alan Lunsford, one of our staff engineers, was awarded “Best Reaction Time” and Jay Davis, one of our CAD technicians, was awarded 2nd place in the single-elimination tournament.
