Over the past couple of weeks, Baseline for Community (B4C) held our fourth annual company-wide Thanksgiving Food Drive. We sponsored local food banks within the communities we work, resulting in donating over 1,600 non-perishable items to four different food bank programs: Gilpin County Food Bank, Community Cupboard of Woodland Park, Food Bank for Larimer County, and LiftUp Routt County.
As always, our annual food drive brings out the competitive side of everyone at our four locations (Golden, Loveland, Colorado Springs, and Steamboat Springs) to see who can contribute the most donations. Our contest is based on the number of items donated per office by employee count. This yearly competition is intense and our teams strategize, striving to outnumber each other’s food drive counts.
The Colorado Springs office is this year’s winner, for the second year in a row, donating nearly 800 items. This is more than double of what they contributed last year! Therefore, this office has won the highly coveted traveling Turkey Cup trophy which will remain in our Colorado Springs office for yet another year. As the winners, they will also have a pizza party in celebration of this momentous occasion and outstanding donation accomplishment. Lastly, Baseline will also be donating $500 to the winning office’s food bank— Community Cupboard of Woodland Park!
In addition to all of the food drive fun, a couple of our offices held a Thanksgiving potluck, followed by our B4C Turkey Bowl competition. Participants were asked to bring in a frozen turkey and were allowed to bowl a round for their top score. The top two highest scorers each won a turkey and gift card. The Turkey Bowl brought out stiff competition amongst our teams and awarded two first place and second place winners. The remaining turkeys were donated, resulting in a total contribution of 10 turkeys to the Gilpin County Food Bank and four turkeys to the Community Cupboard of Woodland Park.
Finally, on behalf of the B4C committee, we thank our Baseline crew for their participation in both of these fun competitions and, more importantly, making a difference for our communities this holiday season.
