Position: Survey Instrument Operator

Location: Loveland, CO
Reports to: Survey Crew Chief/Project Manager
Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt

Job Overview:

As a Survey Instrument Operator, you will be an integral member of the survey crew. You’ll use advanced surveying instruments and G.P.S. equipment for tasks such as right-of-way, cadastral, geodetic, topographic, and construction surveying. Additionally, you’ll help establish and preserve county right-of-way monumentation, property corners, and control points.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Duties:

  • Assist the Survey Crew Chief with:
  • Well Connect Pipeline Surveys
  • Well Head Staking
  • Pipeline Route Staking
  • Pipeline As-built Surveys
  • Construction Staking
  • Topographical Surveys
  • Boundary and ALTA Surveys
  • Proficiently operate Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Station, and Auto/Digital Level equipment using Trimble Field Software.
  • Interpret engineering plans with precision.
  • Maintain accurate survey notes, point descriptions, and field documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the Survey Crew Chief, liaison, and project managers to meet project requirements.

Additional Duties:

  • Upload and download field data daily.
  • Organize and return project packets and field notes.
  • Understand Baseline’s services and standards to create a positive first impression with potential clients.
  • Assist in maintaining survey equipment, vehicles, and inventory.

Salary Range:

$21.00 – $26.00/hour

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required, with strong knowledge of Trigonometry and Algebra.
  • Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting safety rules, engineering plans, and technical documents.
  • Strong mathematical and reasoning skills, including the ability to work with algebra, geometry, fractions, and ratios.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Office Duties: Regularly sit at a desk, use standard office equipment, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Field Duties: Regularly walk, stand, and stoop; lift objects up to 50 lbs; carry equipment over steep terrain; work in inclement weather.
