Linda ArnoldInternational Women in Engineering Day – June 23, 2022

Happy International Women in Engineering Day! In honor of this day, Baseline highlights one of our engineer staff who has contributed greatly to the company for the last 10 years, and happens to be retiring next week — Linda Arnold!

Linda grew up in rural Vermont and attended college in New York City, where she majored in Advertising Art. For three summers during college, she worked for the Vermont Agency of Transportation, drawing highways and bridges (and the occasional illustration of traffic crash scenes for court cases). Upon graduating, she abandoned the art world after having found greater satisfaction in the technical arts — and the rest is history!

The following decades were spent working for civil engineers and surveyors in Vermont, California, and Colorado. Additionally, she volunteered with Engineering Ministries International (EMI) where she worked on projects amongst three continents.
EMI is made up of US and international volunteer engineers, surveyors, architects, planners, designers, tech support, etc. who travel as a team to various sites around the world. Her Uganda trip goals were two-fold: to design a clinic for a nurse who was the only medical resource for approximately 10,000 Ugandans in a rural jungle; for years her clinic had been a shipping container; and to also design an extension to a grass runway outside Kampala that serves Missionary Aviation, a non-profit that transports medical and agricultural humanitarian aid. Another trip Linda participated in was to Vladivostok, Russia, to design utility upgrades for a small school situated on an abandoned Russian military base. Once there, the volunteers were advised not to venture outside after dark because of the Siberian tigers in the vicinity.

After many years of hard work, and 40+ years of living in Colorado, Linda and her husband (who is retiring in June as well), plan to relocate to the Space Coast of Florida to enjoy the ocean breezes and sunrises on the beach.

Baseline is very thankful to have had Linda on our team over the years and wish her much joy and happiness in her next chapter! Thank you for so many wonderful contributions and making a difference!
